Affordable Housing Partnership Program

The H4H Affordable Housing Partnership (AHP) Program assists families of homeless children (1,600 identified by local school districts) gain access to permanent rental housing in Macomb County, MI.

The number of homeless children today is 150% higher than in 2008-09, even though the current employment rate is the highest since 2001.

Children and families are bounced from relatives, to hotels, to ‘couch-surfing’ with friends, and are in need of stable homes now!

How does H4H Help?

The H4H AHP Program is designed to create access to privately owned rental housing by helping reduce the risk of private landlords. We do this by providing:

  • Limited short-term motel payment assistance for families approved for rental by landlord until unit is ready for move-in.
  • Partial security deposit and rent payments, or other assistance, to help families get established in their new home.

Volunteers also work with families to develop and implement an economic self-sufficiency plan to help increase household income and ensure longer-term housing stability.

“Here is your chance to help homeless children and have fun doing so!”
